A professional approach is adapted to all work undertaken by our dedicated repair workshop. It is not merely regarded as work but as a labour of love. All work carried out by us is guaranteed for for an agreed period thus affording complete confidence when entrusting us with your repair and service work.
The clock service and repair work carried out by us is done in the traditional manner with the clock movement removed from the case, the movement taken apart and all the parts hand cleaned and polished. At this stage any repair or replacement work is done and the movement is reassembled. The clock is thoroughly tested and if satisfactory the movement is reassembled into its case and put on test for a further period for evaluation and regulation.
We will not let any clock leave us until we are completely satisfied with the repair.
We also undertake restoration work to movement and cases to restore clocks to their former glory.
This is a subject that needs treating with empathy and a sympathetic eye.
So that just the right amount of work is carried to your clock to maintain as much of the character and integrity of the clock as possible, all work is carried out on a bespoke basis with an estimate given after a full discussion with James Hughes as to what exactly is required. Only then will the work be set in hand employing the correct traditional materials and techniques.
It may or may not be a work of great art or great value that you wish to have restored, but it may have great sentimental value that overrides any monetary consideration. No one can put a value on memories.
